WTF am I doing wrong?

I've been lifting seriously for 8 years and with my 40th birthday coming up in September I have a goal of having abs. Of course I want to be bigger as well. I'm 6'1,a hard gainer and currently about 220lb's. When I began lifting I was about 175lbs, so I've definitely grown over the years but I'm trying to understand if there is something I'm doing wrong or not doing. My routine for the past 8 years has been the same----3 sets of 10 for every exercise with as much weight as possible. To help me reach my goal my wife hired a personal trainer for me that has me doing lighter weights but high reps (15-20).

Attached is a pic showing my upper body 4 weeks into my current cycle (300 Test twice a week, 200 Equipoise twice a week and 20mg Dbol daily). With about 300 grams of protein each day and lifting 4 times a week, I cannot get past my current size. Looking at pictures mid-cycle for the past two years, I look the same. Is it mostly genetics that will prevent me from being huge or should I consult with a trainer that has experience with more complicated growth drugs such as insulin? I'm sure there isn't a simple answer, but if anyone is willing to throw out some ideas I'd appreciate it.

Check in with BI get some advice from him and start lifting heavier with oly style movements it will help take you up to the next level in size. 3 sets of 10 reps has never really worked for me, I don't lift anything more than 8 reps.

I'm all for the higher reps Bro, but you should probably talk to a nutritionist. Your diet could be the reason your not growing.

Ok, if you've been doing the same thing for years it's no wonder that you've hit a major wall. Also, did you build your body using high reps and lighter weight? If not than chances you are won't be getting any bigger using that method. Certain rep schemes and sets work for each of us. Their is no cookie cutter method which works for everyone. Prime example, A LOT of ppl swear by a method of training called DC Training. Personally, I think it sux and I have worked with people in creating a workout scheme for this method and stuck with it for 6 months only to see my legs disappear. For me I need high volume and the only way I knew this was to learn it.

Personally I would need to see your training log to see what you're doing but chances are you're not doing heavy compound multi-joint movements which recruit the maximum amount of muscle fibers and also help to create motor pathways which will help you recruit more muscle fibers in the future.

You can check out my workout schedule if you want something which will push the hell outta ya or you can pm me and we can talk about this in further depth.

A Nutritionist isn't a bad thing but you need to change up your training and if you want size, strength, and mass sets of 15-20 aint going to cut it.

Yeah unless your body is comprised of 100% slow twitch muscle fibers your not going to grow with 15-20reps. Typical muscle hypertrophy occurs in the 6-12 range. However like BI said everyone is different, perfect example DC training works excellent for me except for my back. My back grows well doing 5 by 5s. Experiment to find out what works for you but like most have said keep the reps low and the weights heavy, and always always go til failure.

diet + cardio + consistency = ABS

trainer aint gonna do shit for you bro other than watch you train & may change the weight for you or something...nutritionist would be better than a trainer...

I hate to say it bro, but you will never be huge running those low dose cycles. That is if our definition of huge is the same thing. more drugs + more food = bigger muscles.
