Very good info, and I am in the process of following through with this part especially. I was in a car wreck that put me into a very deep, month long coma about 7 years ago. I have regained all of my cognitive skills and more, but it left me with manic depression and other strange mood variations. Testosterone helps a lot, but at my age I am not ready to be on it indefinately. So the best thing that I use now is a 1000mcg inject of B-12 every few days and a consistant supplementation of BCAA's.

I have tried Prozac and some other prescription andi-depressants, and while they all stopped the depression, they also stopped my sex drive and made me feel just plain wierd. B-12 shots help a lot even when I am going through a 3 month bout of severe depression. I've found that testosterone can also zap me out of a manic phase, but I don't want to take hormones when I am a little unstable.

I also have insomnia to top it all off. Some people say that insomnia is all in your head, but that doesn't explain why I can go 3 days without sleeping. For that I use a nighttime mix of 5-10g of L-Glutamine, 5g of GABA, and some ZMA. That mix doesn't always help me fall asleep faster, but I always feel pretty well rested when I wake in the morning. Simply doing 30 to 45 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning helps me sleep a little better too.

I've found that a lot of these natural remedies are crap, but I do believe that some of them really do work. Testosterone injections were considered to be a lame natural remedy at one time, and look at what that led to. A licensed psychologist once told me that I should look into using St. John's Wort for depression, but that was after another doctor told me to try B-12. So I am interested in finding some of these natural cures myself but I view them with a very critical eye. Aside from natural or un-natural cures though, nothing can help change a depressing lifestyle more than actually changing the lifestyle.

fatigue

Hi RainMan,
I also suffered from severe fatigue/lethargy for several years. My doc ran thyroid, cbc and b12 tests and bingo, I had two different types of anemia and an under active thyroid. Sounds like your doc is taking care of business but it might be wise to check these as well. I was also cranky when my thyroid was out of whack. Usually with anemia, you don't have good wind. I was losing my mind cause no matter how hard I did cardio, I couldn't get my Vo2 max to improve. The red blood cells which carry oxygen to the muscle were very low and small, so I couldn't get enough O2.

I was starting to think I had chronic fatigue syndrome, my mom has fibromyalgia, but I didn't have all the symptoms. Man, it is a relief to finally get a diagnosis. Some b12 injects and iron pills and I felt tons better.

I'm sure your doc will have you 100% in no time!

Hey I am new to this forum, and I am constantly feeling like I never recharge after I sleep!

I am dragging ALL the time!

(My mother is a big believer in "yeast and fungi in your system" and it causes SO many problems. She used to drink this stuff called "primal defense" and some other things...)

I haven't tried any of this, but I am to the point to where I have recently gone out purchased something called "Yeast Raiders", from a vitamin store.

I'm just going to say RIGHT NOW, that I am tired all the time... and even after i sleep i dont feel 100% again! Also my joints feel like they are wearing down and not recovering/lubricated...

I also have been eating more sugar lately (not the cause of my fatigue), and I think it is because my body is looking for a "quick fix" of energy.. so I eat more sugar, and this sugar-diet is also making me feel sick lately....

So I am going to DRASTICALLY change my diet, take these supps for healthy body, and a lot more anti oxidants.. and let you all know how THAT goes.

Also, there was this thing on TV I saw about this little pad you put on the bottom of your foot, and it removes toxins and metals from your body!

The commercial showed this little pad with all the black/darkened surface because what it pulls out of the body.

Anyhoo, it's cool to be able to sign up here, and I hope to fit in well and be of some use!

Peace!
